A ex-military leader of the UK's air and space warfare centre will report back next month on how the government-funded institute can most effectively assist the scope of official artificial intelligence goals in defense, homeland protection and information gathering.

The center's head, a former Amazon UK boss, confirmed that multiple research initiatives at the organization with 440 employees have been closed, transferred out or completed because they aren't consistent with the revised strategy.

The organization has faced workplace difficulties since last year as workers demonstrated against restructuring, culminating in a group of employees submitting a formal grievance to the relevant regulatory body.
