Followers Call for Arrest of Person Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who jumped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway flanked by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was set to attend court on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains recordings of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last December.
"Measures must be taken applied against him as this is evidently a punishable act," commented an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Express Concern Over Ariana's Safety
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the finale of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, killing 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded social media platforms to block Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Event Details
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was led out by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the rest of the event continued without further issues.
Numerous of attendees had gathered in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the acclaimed theatrical production Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected bond between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who portrays the Elphaba, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten award recognitions, winning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
