Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the US has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

It said missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
