Fresh particulars have surfaced about the shocking demises of acclaimed director Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

A source indicates quoting a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the house. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

When she went into the house, Romy discovered her father's body. Accounts indicate she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her then dialed 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family also disputed several previously reported details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the estate, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.

Furthermore disputed circulated notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

The statement applies to reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had still not confirmed at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Some accounts noted the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had a medical issue and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
