Salah Issues Regret to Teammates, Discloses Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah said sorry to the entire Liverpool squad after the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Fallout
Salah was left out from a European match after criticising the club and claiming his connection to the head coach had soured.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has chosen not to disclose on whether he got an explanation from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere stayed normal. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I get that there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
On-Field Response
Their results have stayed unbeaten in the games following the situation. He feels the forward's comments were not intended to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, the source has been from a place of caring,” he finished. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and on a positive run.”
