Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Support Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that people question you.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over known failings from his squad in their European loss, namely wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period of this nature with performances like these.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“At this moment, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
